Bio
About Me!
Gabrielle Sophia
Hey all! My name is Gabrielle Sophia, a songwriter and artist here in Denver, CO. My music is very genuine, authentic, and hopefully relatable to others. I've just finished up my senior year of college while writing and arranging songs!
My songwriting journey started in fourth grade, when we had to write a play about Lewis and Clark - and I wanted a musical! I wrote a song for all of us to sing, and everyone seemed to love it. I loved it so much that I decided to make a career out of it! In my senior year of high school, I decided to post a song that was my very favorite at the time on TikTok - the response was overwhelming and I am so grateful for it.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that I am not afraid to put me feelings right on the page. I believe that this makes me more relatable to others. Whatever I am going through in the moment, someone else is too, and I want to share that!
I am SO excited to see what the future holds for me and my career in artistry. Right now, I am playing local shows in Denver, so come by if you are available! As always, contact me if you have an questions, comments, or just want to chat!
My Process
Creative Writing
Something I have always struggled with is being "real." While everyone else was gaining valuable experiences and having relationships, I was only focused on school. I never knew how to write about what I wanted because I felt like I had never experienced anything. Once I realized that I didn't need to write about anything specific, it all changed.
Rather than focusing on a topic, I'll write down whatever comes to my mind. I have well over 500 notes in my "just words" folder, because I literally write down anything that I think could possibly make a song... which means there's some pretty bad ones in there. I'm not focused on what's good and what's not, I'm just writing what I think in that moment. Because of this, my songs can get very specific and super relatable.
Sometimes I'll have an awful experience with one person and write 2o songs about it, because that's just what's on my mind. Other times I'll start a song and not finish it until a year later, when I'm finally in the mood again. Whatever comes first, lyrics or melody or chords, I love messing around and trying out different words and notes. I hope people can see the influence of my day-to-day life in my songs.
